Do you ever wake up anxious in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning?
Do you have a difficult time concentrating on your work or chores?
Do you always feel behind or like you can never get it all done?
Do you feel like no matter what, you’re not good enough?
Do you ever think that no matter how hard you try, things are always going to be this way?
Do you feel like no one understands or gets just what you’re going through?
Have you lost hope that things CAN actually get any better? Or do you think it would be too hard for things to change?
Hi, I’m Tammy Whitten and I’ve been there, too. Somehow growing up, you and I and pretty much everyone was told that if you did the right things, then you would be OK. And there’s a lot of truth to that. If you do the right things, you will avoid all kinds of trouble and you’ll be happy.
But even when you do the right things that would make your mother or your Sunday School teacher proud, sometimes, you still end up with a lot of problems, a lot of stress, a lot of doubts, and a lot of worries. When the idea that “if you do the right things, you’ll be happy” is shattered, it can leave a really bitter taste behind. And worse, it can leave you feeling discouraged and stressed.
There’s a lot of truths you already know about life:
“Life isn’t fair.”
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”
“Marriage takes work.”
“Mama said there’d be days like this.”
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
“The terrible twos…”
But when things get stressful (during the times you really need to remember those phrases), it’s hard to remember them. Often, when you try to talk to a friend about what’s going on, you can feel judged, weak, embarrassed, misunderstood, or frustrated by their responses. Pulling in a third party, like a counselor, can not only give you a fair, honest, unbiased opinion, but it also give you a fresh start and new strategies to try, instead of doing more of the things that you’ve been trying that aren’t working at the moment.
If you’re looking for real, down-to-earth strategies that work and are personalized to you and your strengths, along with some encouragement and accountability, let’s chat soon!
My promise to you is that I will never ask you to do something that I am not willing to do myself, or that I wouldn’t suggest to a friend or family member of my own.
And, we’ll even do it with a few laughs and smiles involved! Not to mention my office is pretty homey and really comfy. (I tested out all of the chairs myself to make sure.) And I hope you aren’t opposed to me talking my shoes off and even sitting with my feet in my chair. The more comfortable and cozy both of us are, the better (including better results for you)!
